VDH puppy statistics

The latest puppy numbers from the VDH.

The VDH (Verband Deutsches Hundewesen - German Kennel Club) issues informative statistics concerning the development of dog breeds every year. The current puppy statistics from the VDH is again showing a reduction of 792 puppy entries compared to the previous year.

Reduction in total puppy numbers.

Whereas there were 80,711 registered puppies in 2011, only 79,919 puppies were registered in 2012. Places 1-3 were again occupied by the German Shepherd, Wire-Haired Dachshund and German Wire-Haired Pointer breeds. This year the Bernese Mountain Dog was included in the top 10 most popular pedigree dogs.
